Ventura is my absolute favorite Warped stop. Just from last year and then today, I can go ahead and say it. We're right on the beach, you can wear jeans throughout the day and not die and I've gotten to meet some pretty rad people.
First off, I want you guys to know about Invisible Children's contest they have going on. It's a text campaign for you to help out your favorite band on Warped. All you do is text 85944 with "IC & (your favorite Warped band)" and confirm it after you send it in. You help your band win stuff, you help out kids in Africa *and* you can win a guitar. Pretty simple and pretty amazing. Do it!
Also Skatera finally got their tent in for today! They have a station for you to customize shirts in the Girlz Garage. They are also running a Twitter contest every day. You grab a Skatera sticker from the booth, take a photo with it and tweet it to @Skatera. At certain times, which are posted at the booth, come back and show them the tweet to win stuff! Would be really fun to do while you guys are waiting in between bands.
So today, we had Chelsea Staub, Nicole Anderson and Demi Lovato all at Warped Tour. If you don't know who these girls are, don't sweat it- because at 23, I shouldn't know either. These are all Disney stars who have friends playing the tour. Not gonna lie- was pretty excited to meet Chelsea and see Demi sing with We The Kings. They created quite the buzz today...and anyone who knows me can tell you how excited I was about it.
The big news today, of course, was 3OH!3. They haven't jumped on the tour, so don't get too excited just yet! They joined us just for today and the entire set was streamed live. I did a short interview with them before they played, so if you saw it, please tell me it was a least remotely funny. Andrew WK also did some guest vocals on a song today which was easily one of the coolest things I've ever seen.
Other than those sets, I watched Whitechapel today. Holy insane crowd, Batman! If you want a brutal pit, this is your band for sure. I love seeing my side of Tennessee representing. Also found this band called Me and the Captain which you have to look up. They are seaman and their set is a voyage in which they meet Lady GaGa. Need I say more? The Rocket Summer was also on my list. I've seen them a few times and when Bryce does his loops, I'm still impressed. He can really dominate a stage on his own.
Tomorrow is a day off...kind of. We have the T.J. Martell Bowling Tournament tomorrow night in Phoenix that I'll be covering so you won't have to wait too long for another pit blog!
