DAY 1- CARSON

Posted Jun 25, 2010 10:30 PM by tiffanymink
First day of tour! And you guys did it right. I know there was worry about the tour not kicking off in Pomona as it has for how many years, I do not know, but Carson knew what was up. You guys made this a solid, solid show!

I realized I jumped into this whole thing and some of you may be new to our Warped Tour family. Well! My name is Tiffany Mink- your Monster Energy Pit Reporter for this summer. I did it last year and am really looking forward to my second! I do photos, videos and entries like this for every day of the tour. I help get it all on Facebook, MySpace and Twitter. Think of this as your ultimate fan blog seeing as I've been going to Warped since 2003. I'm here to be your daily Warped eyes and ears so be sure to tell me what you want to see!

First off, the pit blog video is going to tell you a little more about what you can expect from the tour. We all know there's good music, but there's so, so much more you can check out and do while you are here, plus we have some new companies on the road with us that you should get to know. Find out in the video how to skip the entry line (even without pre-sale tickets), win a guitar, get a VIP pass and everything else you would want to know! Trust me on this one.

Band-wise, I scoped out what I could today. The first day is really getting your footing out here for everyone, so I tried to catch some of the bands I think are going to be the biggest this summer. I think it's going to be between NeverShoutNever and Bring Me The Horizon. Today the crowds were pretty equal in size and involvement. Who do you think is going to draw the most all summer!? I also was sure to watch Motion City Soundtrack- a personal favorite of mine and are going to be fantastic this year. So glad they are back on.

Also caught Street Sweeper Social Club, one of Tom Morello's side projects. They actually closed a song with Rage's "Killing in the Name Of" riff. Needless to say, it was a sick way to start off the tour. And of course- Andrew WK. I feel like he just embodies Warped...all of it. The attitude, the energy- I can't believe he was only on in 2003. Total must see for EVERYONE this summer, regardless of your musical choice. I ended with Sum 41, a band I've listened to for a decade and have only seen once. I love seeing people my age in the crowd singing the same songs I loved all through high school.

Tomorrow we go north to Mountain View where things should flow a little smoother than today. Crank out that sunscreen because your punk rock summer camp is officially underway.
