We are from Vegas. People party in Vegas. We bring the party. Full Bio
A few years can make a big difference—and no one knows that better than The Higher. Just one year ago the group was despondent: they were unsure about their line-up and didn't feel like the music they were playing fully represented their eclectic tastes. The unexpected loss of one of their main songwriters seemingly had The Higher backed into a corner they couldn’t get out of. However, instead of calling it quits the band decided to take fate into their own hands. Originally formed in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 2002, the band has undergone a massive reinvention since their debut full-length Histronics dropped in 2005. On Fire, their second full length record, and first on Epitaph, was recorded in 2007 in Beverly Hills with Mike Green (Paramore, The Matches). On Fire's upbeat amalgam of emo, punk and R&B contained enough diversity to please the ear drums of fans from Jawbreaker to Justin Timberlake. The infectious opening single "Insurance?" was well received at MTV, FUSE and College radio and continues to receive 5,000 plus plays a day on their Myspace page. The Higher have already converted Epitaph founder Brett Gurewitz (who signed the band after seeing them perform just once) as well as fans all over the world—with successful outings to both Japan and the United Kingdom in 2007 and 2008 respectively, the acclaim for The Higher is now being heralded on forgein shores. With their infectious and energetic live performances, it is no wonder that The Higher continue to make fans every time they hit the stage. As the band prepares to enter into the studio to record their next record, tentatively titled “It’s Only Natural”, the band is preparing for a stint on this summer’s Van’s Warped Tour. “No one knows what we’re capable of but us”, says Seth Trotter, vocals. “We just can’t wait to show everyone where The Higher is going to take them next!” Hide Bio
