Hollywood is perceived as the shallowest end of the American social pool, with sharks and leeches around every corner.  It was these very perceptions that drove a young Jason Evigan to articulate his disdain for the trappings while still trying to understand his role in it all.  He spent most of 2003 holed up in his home studio recording songs that would serve as a therapeutic blend of his schizophrenic musical styling's and his recent heartbreaks.  Feeling lost, without a band, lamenting the loss of a two year relationship, and disconnected from any real type of community, Jason would return home from work around 12am and labor into the early morning hours on a musical undertaking that he saved on a hard drive called, "THE After Midnight Project".  His friends started urging him to play the songs live and Jason decided to take his late night musings out of his home recording studio and assemble a band of the best musicians that word of mouth and Craigslist could find.      "THE" was removed from the name and After Midnight Project took shape with Danny on drums, Spencer and Christian on guitar and TJ on bass.  Danny came via Berklee School of Music. Spencer came via Michigan with a solid recommendation from Danny and a freshly minted degree in electrical engineering.  Christian didn't have to go far, graduating from USC Film School into the band.  TJ came highly recommended from a series of bands that used him for session work as well as coaching such players as Mikey Way from My Chemical Romance.       Once assembled the band worked to perfect their live show, creating legendary performances that turned each show into a must-see event.  Adding live video, blazing interludes, and an enormous light show, the band's live performances attracted label attention from across the country.  While the record labels took their time circling, they weren't actually biting. Refusing to wait for their success to be determined for them, the band took action.  With help from their management, they hustled their way into the biggest rock radio station in the country, which is based in Los Angeles, and got added to the "Locals Only" radio show.  This caught the attention of cutting edge San Diego radio programmer Capone at 89X, who became an early champion and soon added the band into regular rotation.  Universal/Motown threw their cards on the table and inked a deal with the boys in April of 2008.     The end of 2008 found AMP in legendary producer John Feldman's studio recording songs that would be the foundation for their debut record, Let's Build Something to Break.  Feldman would eventually call the band, "One of the most seasoned bands I ever worked with."  The album displays Jason's uncanny ability to pen huge rock anthems blended with melodies that make the songs palatable to even the most hardened rock critic.  “Scream for You” was a song that Jason originally penned for his friends Papa Roach that he held onto for AMP.  The ballad "Gone Too Long" illustrates the rigors of being on the road and was recorded in the early morning hours on a beach in San Simeon. "Take Me Home" has been a crowd favorite for hardcore AMP fans and became the easy selection for the albums first single.  The single has held steady in the top of the radio charts for most of 2009.     Since the album dropped in late 2009, the band has continued its tireless efforts for world domination.  They have criss-crossed the country logging countless miles on Warped Tour and playing packed arenas with Boys Like Girls, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, 10 Years, and most recently rounded out the 2009 touring season with Chevelle.      While the spotlight may illuminate the sharks and leeches in Hollywood, the trappings seem to be fairly consistent across the country.  The difference now is that Jason is insulated by his music and a talented band of brothers.
